FAQ
The DArt in ArtByDArt stands for Debbie Ainsworth Artist. It’s my initials plus the “rt” in the word artist. I thought it was fun to say and would be easier to remember than my name.
For the most part, no. However, many are based on real places, or combinations of real places. For instance, a hotel façade combined with a cafe, with little details from a florist. New Orleans has so many colorful homes, so Debbie is never lacking for inspiration.
NFS stands for “Not For Sale.” These are paintings that are part of Debbie’s personal collection, or those she gifted to friends.
Because Debbie is a real person, who only has the one personal cell phone line. She’s worried about her number getting in the hands of telemarketers. Like most everyone else, she is reluctant to take calls from phone numbers she doesn’t recognize, and blocks numbers that don’t leave a message. She worries about accidentally blocking a potential buyer. One day, if all goes well and tons of people start buying Debbie’s art, she can afford to get a separate line for business. In the mean time, you can leave a message by using the form on the contact page, or send her a message on the ArtByDArt Facebook page. Debbie responds quickly. Usually the same day.
What’s the difference between a Limited Edition fine art print and an Open Edition?
Both Limited and Open Editions are printed on the same, high quality linen textured paper, and both come with acid-free backing boards and bags. Limited Editions are personally signed, dated, and numbered by Debbie Ainsworth. When the run of the edition is done, no more will ever be available. Editions are numbered per size. A Limited Edition run of 5000 will consist of that number of prints per size offered. For example, there will be 5000 of the 8″ x 10″ size, and 5000 of the 11″ x 14″ size, and so on. Limited Edition prints also come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Aren’t Limited Editions just a way to make more money?
Limited Editions offer a little lagniappe (something extra) to art collectors because they are more valuable due to their scarcity as well as the Certificate of Authenticity.
Don’t Open Editions cheapen the value of Limited Editions?
Limited Editions come with a little lagniappe that don’t come with Open Editions, and they are far more rare.
Why does ArtByDArt even offer Open Editions?
Because Debbie Ainsworth wants her art to be for everybody. If she keeps the price low, more people can buy it and display it in their homes or offices. The fact that people like her art enough to buy it is a constant thrill to her, so Debbie’s motivated to keep it affordable.
You are allowed to sell your Original Painting, physical Fine Art Print, or Hand Painted Small Gift for as much money as you can get for them. If all my dreams come true, you’ll be able to sell them for a lot more than you paid for them, but hopefully you won’t want to.
I, Debbie Ainsworth, retain the copyright on all art I produce. Ooooh. That sounds menacing, but what does it mean? It means that I can sell prints of my original paintings, including commissions (negotiable). It also means that while you can sell the physical painting or fine art print, you cannot make copies of them (printed or digital) and distribute them in any form … even if you’re not making money from it.
My intent here is to keep dishonest people from either selling or giving away my art for free. Therefore, this is something most people will never need to worry about. Taking a picture of your art displayed in your home is okay. So is sending those pictures to your friends, and sharing them on social media. In fact, I’d love it if you included a link to ArtByDArt. Maybe some of your friends would like to buy some art.
